TALES
Mavis and Ron had the two adorable red Toy Poodles for years, then they had two even cuter children.
Ron says, "I enjoy wrestling with the dogs, and children, on the floor each morning, as much as they do!" Mavis admits that, she openly talks to her dogs...and when she does, 5 year old Reba asks, "Mom? Do you talk dog?" Each dog has its favorite child. Cubby loves to snuggle with Reba, and her flannel blankets. Because of Reba's youth, and Cubby's age, they often nap together. Reba laughs, "I think it is funny, when Cubby sticks her tongue out."
Carlie's favorite child, is Ray. She excitedly follows Ray around, as he drops food. The children love to take their dogs for walks. But, because Ray is so young, it is actually the dog, who walks the child. The children love the dogs, as much as the dogs love, and protect the children. Many mothers will understand how busy Mavis is, with two children, two dogs, and she is organizing M.O.P.S. (Mother's of Preschoolers) which starts this fall. She can use an extra pair of eyes, and she has them in Cubby.
Mavis says, "Cubby is the children's Guardian Angel dog...she knows when the children are into something, they shouldn't be, and she comes and gets me." TIPS Mavis and Ron had both their dogs obedience trained, because it can save a dog's life in a dangerous situation.
They also believe daily brushing their dog's teeth is important, and have the dog's teeth professionally cleaned once a year
Mavis says, "Having a pet opens everyone's heart, in the family. My children watch how Ron and I treat the dogs, and it teaches them responsibility, and compassion. Reba is already letting the dogs go outside, when they need to use the back yard, and she helps us feed them."
