![]() Photo by Mary Ellen "Angel Scribe"© Ashley and her Water Dragon, Tycen, 2 months old TALES Tycen is not Ashley's first unusual pet. She has cared for; a crow named Bob, and a deer named, Lorain.
So, when she first saw Tycen's, 'cute little face,' she fell in love. Convincing her mother that a Water Dragon, was less work, ate less food, and pooped less than a dog or cat, her pet points sealed the deal! Ashley says, "Water Dragons are very friendly. If they feel in harm's way, they wiggle their way out, swinging their head from side to side.
My two year old sister, isn't quite sure of Tycen yet. At first she would scream, and run away. Now, she is a little more curious, and getting closer to him every day."
Tycen is a Water Dragon, so they naturally love water. Ashley lets Tycen play in their bathtub, in a couple of inches of 78' water.
Ashley said, "Water Dragons eat mostly crickets and mill worms, from pet stores. One day, I came home, and Tycen was not in his cage. Panicked, I dug through his dirt, still no Tycen! Still searching, I pulled everything out, from under my bed, floor, and closet and put them in the living room!
My grandmother, phoned 2 1/2 hours later, and rushed over, because I was hysterical. She looked in Tycen's cage, and said, "There is no way, he could have gotten out!" She said, "He must be under his water dish."
I said, "No, he can't fit under it."
She picked it up, and there he was curled underneath his dish!
TIPS Thinking of purchasing a cute little Water Dragon?
Think again, as they grow to three feet in length, weigh four pounds, and live for 15 years!
Add 15 years to your current age; would care taking a Water Dragon still fit into your life style? Research books, and the internet for information, as Water Dragons housing requires high humidity, room for a large cage, water and food dishes that need daily cleaning. Including live plants in their cage, provides Dragons a hiding area, plus adds moisture to their environment. Water Dragons are known for their even temperament. Since, many reptiles carry a form of salmonella, washing hands after handling them, is important.
Also, don't wash their food dishes in your kitchen sink! Never grab a Water Dragon's tail. The tail will break off, and unlike other reptiles, will not grow back. Pet Adoption info: ![]() Swimming Cats on TV
