TALES Watch your step!
When you walk into Farmers Insurance, the first spokes-purr-son to greet you, will most likely be Whiplash, sunning himself on the carpet, by the door.
Whiplash has been their official "greeter," mouser and night guard for twelve years. The staff at Farmers never intended on having an office mascot, until...a tiny mouse crept up Nancy's computer monitor! She jumped up and away from her desk, screaming, "Either the mice go, or I do!" The next day, their office secretary arrived at work, bright and early as usual. But, this time, she was carrying a tiny kitten, to ward off the building's mice.
Nancy says, "It turns out, Whiplash is more afraid of the mice, than they are of him. Oh well, we enjoy his company, and our customers get a kick out of him. We even have a few clients who pop in, just to visit with Whiplash."
Whiplash's name is derived, both from the melodrama character, Snidely Whiplash, and from the dreaded whiplash claim, all insurance agents fear. Over the last few years, Whiplash has blossomed into a twenty pound tuxedo cat. His size is hereditary, as one of their clients has his brother, who is also the same X-large cat size.
We have all heard of the child's game "Where in the World is Waldo?" Well, Whiplash was painted into the beautiful country mural, on the side of the Farmers Insurance building, on Hwy. 99.
Search for Whiplash in the mural, or drop into the office and say "Hello" to him and 'his' staff. Just watch your step, he is a carpet speed bump!
TIPS Farmers Insurance staff feed Whiplash diet cat food, to help reduce his weight.
They also are advocates for altering pets, and Whiplash was neutered when he was six months old.
