Mary Ellen "AngelScribe" ![]() Jack and Joan with Dolly, their six year old Lhasa Apso
TALES Five years ago, Dolly's owners left her by herself when they went on vacation.
Days later, she was discovered wondering the streets looking for food and comfort.
Jack and Joan found and adopted Dolly at Eugene's Animal Regulation Authority, and now Dolly is their constant companion.
Dolly means the world to them and is both a good friend and protector.
Dolly's special trick is waving her front paws in the air when told, "Praise the Lord" or begging for food. Dolly barks and barks when she sees Jack getting ready to go for a tricycle ride.
Only when he is on the tricycle, and Dolly is put in her basket, does she quit barking. Then she smiles.
TIPS Exercise and fresh air are good for Dolly, Jack and Joan.
Their advice for pet guardians is, "Never leave a pet in a car, they can dangerously over heat in a matter of a few minutes.
Keeping them groomed and bathed is also beneficial."
