Angel's survival is a miracle!
The first part of Angel's story is a mystery on how she became so skinny and neglected. All Lana knows is Angel was headed for death, at the hands of a local meat buyer.
For some reason, the meat buyer saw something special in this Arabian mare and approached a friend of Lana's to see if she would pay him the same amount he get if he sold her for meat.
Lana's friend bought Angel, and Angel had her second chance for life.
After Angel's initial recovery, she was again put up for sale. Lana bought Angel, and began a careful feeding program to help Angel regain her weight and health.
Today, Angel is a happy, healthy, and very energetic. She is sweet and knows that she's received a second chance.
Angel is fun to ride on the trails, because she loves the freedom and adventure of it as much as Lana does.
It became apparent that Angel had some training and was far too good to become pet food.
"Angel may not be full blooded or registered horse, but a horse doesn't need registration papers to have a big heart to be worthy of a good home and love," says Lana.
TIPS
Lana's Tip, "Consider adopting a horse in need. Horses companionship equals that of a dog or cat, they just can't sit in your lap!
Once a horse gets up in years, it may not be rideable, but it still needs a place to belong, loved and cared for.
If you have an empty pasture, put a horse in it! You won't be sorry!"
