Desires By Mary Ellen "Angel Scribe" and her Angels www.AngelScribe.com' Often, just when you feel defeated, is when the tide turns, the winds change and the desired outcome manifests. Divine Timing and our own desires each have a different time table. When we finally release the tight hold on the reins is the best time for Spirit/God/The Angels to step in, pick them up and guide us with strength to our desired Destiny. We are often like little children in our desires; banging our feet and hands on the floor, yelling, "No! No! No! My Way! My Way! Want it now!" And look around, who can safely get close and help you in this state? Instead, open your heart to the help of others and the Angels guidance. Hold your desires gently and firmly in your heart. Do not hold them so strongly in your hands like sand that the harder you hold it close to you, the more it flows out between your fingers. All from the Light, Amen _____________________________ ![]() Photo by Mary Ellen "Angel Scribe"© Volunteer Fire Fighter Captain Eddie's Helmet, Boots and Turn Outs Dearest Readers, When people say, "everything is in perfect Divine Order, and happens for a reason," sometimes it feels exactly the opposite! You wonder who on earth created that annoying expression! Here is a poignant and synchronistic story that teaches us about the gifts we may encounter in our frustrations. I loved volunteering as the media contact and photographer for the local fire department, but with the 4th Chief in 2 years, I became frustrated and submitted my resignation. Three days later, a volunteer phoned asking if I would photograph the procession of emergency fire vehicles to the home of long-time volunteer, Eddie, who was in hospice. I was not obligated to do it, but said yes to honor Eddie. It is a good thing too, because it started a chain of miracles that no one could stop. Who would have thought, frustrations indicate that miracles are close at hand! Eddie had served the Creswell community as Mayor for 22 consecutive years, 1979-2000, and as a volunteer firefighter, riding the back of the old fire trucks since 1954. He also was the founding member of the Creswell Neighborhood Watch. He once told me, that he joined as a way to help people in the community. Eddie loved Creswell and its residents, and contributed timeless hours supporting 'his' community. When Eddie first joined as a volunteer firefighter, often there were only two firefighters fighting grass fires, and chip fires on the railroad tracks. He loved that the fire engines had improved; faster, more automated and they pump more water. Eddie used to ride on the back of the fire trucks, and loved it. He said, "I miss the fun and excitement of that, but understand the safety reason. Riding on that back rail on cold days, was really cold! If we wanted to go to a fire, the old trucks only had a place to seat 2-3 people, so there was no other option but on the back rail." Eddie added, "When I joined, we were trained by the older firefighters. There was no official recruit training class. Back then, when you had a fire in front of you, you became a fast learner, and paid attention to do what needed to be done safely." When Eddie's family moved to town, he was eight years old and only 390 people lived in Creswell. He and his wife Jan had four children, all born and raised in Creswell. So, on his night of honor, several bright colored emergency fire vehicles sounded their air horns and sirens as they pulled in front of his house. Then the volunteers crowded into his home to honor his years of service. Eddie sat, smiling, in his favorite TV-watching-chair as he was presented with his turnouts, fire boots and Captain's helmet by his long time best friend. It was obvious how respected and loved Eddie is by those who have worked along side him. South Lane County Fire and Rescue Volunteer Association President Mike Cook said, "Eddie is a true icon and a mentor to us all." Everyone smiled and joked, as I photographed Eddie and his fire family. Looking around his home, it was obvious that he loved and collected old car models, and his wife, who has passed, collected Angels. I returned home and worked on his story and photographs for hours and then forwarded them to the newest Chief. As agreed, I could not forward anything to the media without approval. (This method made sense, it helped with accuracy, as I may not know the names of all the equipment, procedures etc.) The end result was; the story missed all media deadlines for the TV stations, and two local weekly newspapers; the Cottage Grove Sentinel and Creswell Chronicle. I phoned Eddie, and told him the new back up plan was to send his story onto the media the following week. He was not upset, and glad that it would still go forward. Now the miracle! Immediately after talking with him, his story and photos of his special evening were placed in an email. I began flipping screens, from the media contacts page to his email story; adding media addresses one at a time...and shocked to come back to the email finding it going out all by itself ....sending.....sending....sending.... sending....sending. I screamed out loud! NO! NO! NO! My gosh, what was happening! This was 100% unexpected. How had the email sent itself? This completely blew, for the second time, our well laid out plans for Eddie's story! The Sentinel had gone to press, The Chronicle was already at the printers! The TV stations don't like old news, and wouldn't use the story...it was so frustrating! Three minutes later, Helen Hollyer, owner of the Chronicle emails, "Thanks for sending the fabulous story and photographs of Eddie! I am pulling my front page lead story and putting in Eddie's story." It was a relief, knowing he would see his story! View it on; http://www.thecreswellchronicle.com/news/story.cfm?story_no=5350 Minutes later, a TV station emailed that they were putting Eddie's story and photo on its website! So far, we are up to three miracles. The Angels electronically sending the email on their own, then the story about to appear on a front page, and a TV station's website! There is one more miracle to come! And it teaches us about Divine Timing. The Angels must have been working very closely with Eddie and his last gift. (And you can't forget that his wife was already in Heaven and she loved Angels!) When his story appeared on the front page, he and his friends saw it, they phoned him and heard his voice, and he theirs. Exactly seven days later, he died, peacefully in the morning, at home, with his family beside him. He would have missed his article, if I had held it. The Angels knew to send it! Yes, everything is in Divine Order. The magic of Eddie was not over. When the Cottage Grove Sentinel heard of his passing, they requested a story on him...and as it happens, I happen to have a great story and photos! All my plans had indeed unfolded, just not in the order so brilliantly planned. The week of frustration had beautifully unfolded into a successful one. Now that I am no longer volunteering for the fire department, it is time to wait and see what the next miracle is for my future, one that is most assuredly up an Angel's sleeve! So, the expression is right, even when you are the most frustrated, remember; everything has an order, a Divine Order. You are still in Divine Timing, everything happens for a reason...and you are being guided. I wonder who made that expression? Probably some frustrated miracle maker!
